The Southern Willamette Groundwater Management Area (GWMA) Committee was appointed by the Director of Oregon Department Environmental Quality to represent the broad range of interests related to groundwater protection within the declared GWMA. The GWMA Committee worked with technical advisors and agency staff from September 2004 through May 2006 to develop a strategic plan to protect and improve the quality for groundwater within the GWMA.
Committee Meetings
GWMA Committee Meetings are open to the public and there is an opportunity for public comment on the agenda for each meeting. For information about past or upcoming meetings go the the GWMA Meetings page. All material, including some presentations, from past meetings will be archived on this page.
Working Groups
Four working groups were set up to recommend strategies that could reduce groundwater nitrate to the GWMA Committee. Each working group was composed of an agency staff person who coordinated the workgroup, two to four members of the GWMA Committee, and additional professionals and community members who choose to participate. The working groups are:
- Agricultural
- Commercial/Industrial
- Public Drinking Water Systems
- Residential
